(2011: 289), is obviously motivated by the results of latest taxonomic and nomenclatural changes in the Mediterranean Poaceae (Valdés & Scholz 2006), in part based on molecular-phylogenetic studies that resulted in re-classification of Stipa gigantea Link as Celtica gigantea (Link) F.M. Vázquez & Backworth. Although this taxonomic-nomenclatural deed is convincing, the name Stipa gigantea has been in use for the past 20 years, while the name Celtica gigantea is relatively new (introduced in 2006). This proposal is, therefore, premature. (L. Mucina).
