sag03 | Wolff (1968) described the ‘Saginion mediterraneum’ and assigned one validly described association (the Romuleo-Saginetum maritimae Wolff 1968) into this alliance. The latter association automatically becomes the holotypus of the alliance. As the character species of the alliance Wolff (l.c.) listed Bellis annua and Polypogon maritimum. This syntaxon represents an ecologically and geographically well-defined vegetation unit of the Saginetea maritimae in the Eastern Mediterranean. Here I introduce a nomen novum for this alliance, rectifying its illegitimate status (IPCN art. 34a). (L. Mucina).
