S37 Corylus avellana scrub

new search

Scrub dominated by hazel (Corylus avellana). Natural occurrences are found on shallow soils along the northern Atlantic seaboards, where they are permanently maintained by exposure to winds, and locally on rocky slopes and cliffs through the continental region. Secondary hazel scrub can develop after by felling of mesic broadleaved forests.
